Our Campus

Traditional Meets Innovative at Penguin Hall

We’ve designed our space with intention around what makes a truly engaging learning environment.

Our Learning Environment

Penguin Hall estate is a unique, convenient and unparalleled setting as an all-girls college preparatory high school. Sunlight-filled classrooms, study rooms, and science labs modeled after those at the college level provide interactive spaces for faculty and students to learn, be challenged, and grow. Our Learning Commons and Student Center, decorated by students, provide a comfortable and enriching space for students to gather and form friendships, finish homework, and host events. And, our 50-acre outdoor campus is not only picturesque — it’s a living classroom and a space for recreation throughout the seasons.

Our History

The picturesque stone manor house, surrounded by 50-acres of sweeping lawns and wooded land, was originally built in 1929 for Ruby Boyer Miller, a progressive-minded Detroit socialite who called this magical Wenham estate her summer home. The stone manor house and grounds were designed by American Architect Harrie T. Lindeberg, known for his design of luxury country houses that include the historic Nester House in Geneva, New York.

In 1962, Penguin Hall became a school of the Sisters of Notre Dame. Mullen Advertising then purchased the property in the late 1980s and made Penguin Hall its world headquarters for more than two decades.

The Academy at Penguin Hall purchased the property in 2016 and opened its whimsical spider web doors to the first cohort of students that fall. Students spend much of their time in the main Manor House and Abbey Walk, an addition from the time of the Sisters of Notre Dame.
