Penguin Hall Student Accepted into UMass Lowell Art Exhibit

WENHAM, Mass.December 2, 2019 — The Academy at Penguin Hall (APH) today announced APH student and Reading native Angela Mayes, Class of 2020 has been accepted into the 2nd Annual UMass Lowell Regional High School Exhibition. Ms. Mayes’ work will be on display from December 2-8, 2019, with a closing reception and award presentation in the university gallery on Sunday, December 8 from 2-3 p.m.

Ms. Mayes will have two pieces of artwork featured in the exhibit: Silence and Scream. Presented annually by the UMass Lowell Department of Art & Design, the Annual UMass Regional High School Exhibition is a juried art exhibition that showcases some of the best original pieces of artwork across the region. 

Chloe Wilwerding, Fine Arts Faculty at Penguin Hall says, “ In our independent study this semester, Angela has challenged herself both technically and conceptually. She has explored new ways of making art and used her personal experiences and ideas to give her art meaning. I am excited that Angela has the opportunity to share her work with a broader community.”  

The University Gallery is located on the first floor of Mahoney Hall at 870 Broadway Street, Lowell, Massachusetts. Gallery hours are as follows: Monday, Dec. 2. 12-4 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 3. 10-4 p.m.

Wednesday and Thursday, 10-9 p.m.

Friday and Saturday 10-3 p.m. 

The University Gallery is accessible to all, and gallery events are free and open to the public. Parking is available in the Wilder Metered Lot, located at the intersection of Wilder Street and Bachelder Street — the entrance to the lot is located on Bachelder Street.
