Participation in athletics is integral to the educational experience of each young woman.

Athletics and wellness are essential to the program at The Academy. We offer 13 competitive sports throughout the year. In addition to the important educational value for our students, athletics provides the motivation to improve talents, cultivate discipline to reach new levels of success, and work with teammates toward a common goal, while adhering to codes of good sportsmanship.

We strive to provide an environment that promotes the values of leadership, respect, and perseverance through interscholastic competition.

The Academy at Penguin Hall participates in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) and offers athletic opportunities all year long:

    • Fall Sports: Soccer, Volleyball Junior Varsity and Varsity, Cross Country, Mountain Biking (co-op with St. John’s Prep)
    • Winter Sports: Basketball, Ice Hockey (co-op with Marblehead High School), Gymnastics (co-op with Hamilton-Wenham)
    • Spring Sports: Softball, Track & Field, Tennis, Lacrosse, Cheerleading (co-op with Hamilton-Wenham), Crew (co-op with Gordon College)

All students are required to participate in at least one season of competitive sport or commit to one season of athletics in the fitness center. Team practice is held daily after school from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., excepting game days.

Our athletic offerings are driven by the student body and their interests and commitment to each sport. As our student body grows, our athletic opportunities are also likely to evolve. Contact Director of Athletics and Student Leadership Dr. Nicole Cervantes with any questions.
