About Mary Richards
Ms. Richards, a.k.a. “Mariya Berkleevna,” teaches Russian and Latin at APH. In high school, she won a game of Russian Scrabble by playing the two-letter word for cabbage soup. Ms. Richards holds a B.A. in Russian from Indiana University, Bloomington and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of California at Berkeley. In 2018 she participated in Middlebury College’s STARTALK program, whose mission is “to increase the number of U.S. citizens learning, speaking, and teaching critical-need foreign languages.”
