Digital Photography

Prerequisite: Foundations in Art
In this course, students will first learn the history of photographic image-making through direct, analog photographic processes, such as cyanotypes. Then, students will move onto digital photography and will learn key principles for composing strong images. Using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, students will edit their photos. Throughout the course, we will discuss what students want to express with their photographs and larger conceptual issues of photography including how technology and art intersect, how manipulation of digital images changes our perceptions of reality, and how photographs shape memory. Students will work outside the studio and all over the APH campus to shoot assignments.
