Natalie Dominguez Receives Ruby Boyer Miller Scholarship from The Academy at Penguin Hall

Salem 8th-Grader is First Recipient of  Ruby Boyer Miller Scholarship

Wenham, MA — June 11, 2020 — The Academy at Penguin Hall (APH) is pleased to announce the first recipient of the inaugural Ruby Boyer Miller Scholarship has been awarded to Salem resident Natalie Dominguez.

New to APH this year, the Ruby Boyer Miller Scholarship will be awarded annually to an incoming APH first-year student who is profoundly committed to her education, who values self-growth, and who demonstrates using her education to make a positive impact on the lives of those around her. Named in honor of Ruby Boyer Miller, a smart, progressive-minded woman and famed Detroit socialite, and the original owner of the Penguin Hall estate, the winner of the Ruby Boyer Miller Scholarship is awarded a $5,000 award, which is renewable for all four years.

“Natalie is a very hardworking and ambitious young woman who excels in both her academics and her commitments to her community,” said Molly Martins, President of The Academy at Penguin Hall. “Natalie possesses a tremendous work ethic, a passion for mathematics and technology, and a profound dedication to the younger peers. These qualities embody a recipient worthy of the Ruby Miller Scholarship, and make Natalie a natural fit for Penguin Hall. We look forward to watching Natalie grow as a scholar and continue her path in leadership during her four years here.”

As Natalie’s love for academics continues to grow, she has also evolved into a leader amongst her peers. As a National Junior Honor Society Member and a student with perfect attendance to date, Natalie is heavily involved with a number of community service activities, including mentoring third and fourth grade students in the mathematics discipline. Fascinated by criminal justice, the law, and the court system, Natalie is a natural advocate for herself and others. As Natalie considered where she would attend high school, she sought attendance at Penguin Hall because she wants to be in an environment where she is free to be herself and support her community.

Natalie’s father Raynaldo spoke to Natalie’s headstrong nature, and ongoing desire to create and achieve the goals she sets for herself, including attending Penguin Hall.  “Natalie is a very bright young lady that will not quit or give up until she accomplishes what she puts her mind to. Since the day that she learned about Penguin Hall, she has not stopped talking about it. Every day Natalie would look into something new regarding Penguin Hall, and would make a comment on how The Academy would be a great fit for her, and the more we learned, the more we realized that not only would it be a great fit for Natalie, but more importantly, how Natalie would be a great fit for the school.”
